Benefit Cap Challenge

We are very concerned by the ruling which leaves our clients and thousands of other vulnerable families in a very uncertain position. We intend to pursue this case in the Court of Appeal. This policy has catastrophic consequences for many families, who are faced with the choice between paying their rent and feeding their children. It is very important for landlords, local authority housing and social services departments as it will effect how they manage their social housing. The case has been supported by Women’s Aid, because of the impact of the cap on those fleeing domestic violence.

For more information see the recent article in The Guardian and our press release of 5th November 2013 prepared following the judgment.

Our press release of 1st October 2013 gives more information about the case before it was heard in court.
