Rosie Gibbs

 

Rosie Gibbs joined Hopkin Murray Beskine in August 2016 as a paralegal, and qualified as a solicitor in April 2019.

Since qualification Rosie has specialised in housing and public law. Her practice includes defending possession proceedings, unlawful eviction and disrepair claims, homelessness cases, discrimination and judicial review.

Rosie has been a key part of the team running a number of large, high profile cases including:-

R (Z and others) v (1) Hackney LBC and (2) Agudas Israel Housing Association [2019] EWCA Civ 1099 (appeal to the Court of Appeal in a judicial review challenge, concerning whether directly discriminatory arrangements for the letting of accommodation to particular religious groups were unlawful)

R (DA) v Secretary of State for Work and Pensions [2019] UKSC 21 (challenge heard by the Supreme Court concerning the government’s “benefit cap” policy, brought on behalf of several lone parent families with children below the age of two whose benefits were restricted).

R (T and others) v Secretary of State for Education [2018] EWHC 258 (judicial review challenge to the government’s policy on  increased free nursery hours for those with working parents, brought on behalf of carers and their children excluded from the policy)
