Sandra Yao

Sandra Yao read law at the University of Westminster and went on to do the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. She joined HMB where she did her training contract qualifying in 2001.

Sandra began her career practising both housing and family law. She was an active member of the Haringey Domestic Violence Forum and provided advice at Hearthstone, Haringey Council’s one-stop shop for people fleeing domestic violence.

She has over the last 5 years specialised in housing and social welfare law. She is a member of both the Bow and Clerkenwell & Shoreditch Duty Solicitor Scheme where she is on duty at least once a month advising court users with possession hearings who have no legal representation.

She handles a full spectrum of housing law including possessions on grounds of rent arrears and anti-social behaviour, homelessness and disrepair.

Sandra is involved in other community projects and has been an adviser at the Hornsey Citizens Advice Bureau for over 7 years giving free legal advice to local residents with no access to legal representation.
