Ben Chataway
Ben is a consultant working in the fields of housing, public and social welfare law.
He studied at the University of Cambridge and qualified as a barrister in November 1995. He completed training in general chancery and company law before moving to publicly funded work as a solicitor. He was enrolled as a solicitor in 1998. In December 2007 he was appointed part-time chairman on the Social Security and Child Support Appeals Tribunal. He became a partner at Hopkin Murray Beskine and worked here for many years before leaving to practise as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in June 2010.
Ben can provide expert advice and representation at court across a wide range of public and property law issues, from cutting edge human rights actions to securing assistance for the most vulnerable clients, to complicated commercial disputes.
In addition to his legal work, Ben has a keen interest in IT. He led the IT development of Nellbooker, our web-based system for facilitating referrals between legal aid advisors and solicitors. We were short-listed for a Law Society Excellence Award in recognition of our work in setting up Nellbooker in 2008.
