Valerie Murray
Valerie Murray is one of the founding partners of the firm. She has degrees from Oxford and London universities. Before practising as a solicitor Valerie lectured at the University of Aberdeen and the London School of Economics.
After qualifying as a solicitor in 1981, Valerie specialised in Family Law. Prior to establishing Hopkin Murray Beskine with Barbara Hopkin and Sarah Beskine, Valerie was a partner at Clifford Watts Compton.
Valerie had close links with local womens refuges, offering efficient, expert and sympathetic help for women fleeing violent relationships. Valerie also undertook work on behalf of the London Borough Of Haringey. Her family law practice covered all aspects of family law for over 20 years.
Valerie now heads Hopkin Murray Beskine's management team. She is responsible for the financial and regulatory aspects of the business, ensuring that as a firm we are fully compliant with all new legislation and professional regulations. Valerie works to ensure that as a firm we have intelligent policies that deal with the changing nature of our professional obilgations towards clients and other bodies such as the Legal Services Commission and The Law Society. Hopkin Murray Beskine recently obtained a Category One standard following an audit of cases by the Legal Services Commission.
In 2006 and 2007 Valerie drafted our two bids in the higly competitive bid rounds for Legal Services Commission training grants, both of which were successful. She is actively involved in monitoring the supervision and training of para legal and trainees, with reference to the level of training and the requirements of Peer Review standards.
