Sarah Beskine is one of the founding partners of Hopkin Murray Beskine and is now a director of Hopkin Murray Beskine as a limited company. Qualifying as a solici
tor in 1989, Sarah has extensive experience in all fields of family law.
Sarah acts for clients in divorce, and for separating partners including civil partnerships. She advises and represents on all aspects of financial disputes, and disagreements regarding the future care of children, following the breakdown of a relationship. Based in Finsbury Park, the hourly rates of the firm are highly competitive. She receives numerous referrals from past clients who pass her name to family and friends, from other lawyers and professionals, and in response to her reputation wider in the field.
Sarah’s work often involves advising her clients on how to go about separating finances after relationship breakdown, including clients with very high assets. Able to act speedily to protect her clients’ interests if for example there is a fear that assets might be hidden or dissipated, and confidently to advise on how to approach compromise when that is in her client’s best interest. Sarah acts for clients in disputes over the future of their children’s residence and contact, including cases with an international element for example, where one parent may wish to relocate with a child abroad. She offers an energetic, creative and pro-active approach and can act quickly if for example there is a fear of violence or abduction. She also represents parents in care proceedings.
Sarah is a Resolution accredited specialist in the fields of financial provision after relationship breakdown, international child abduction, and domestic abuse. She appears on the Official Solicitor's select Referral List of Specialist Solicitors to whom international child abduction matters are referred. Sarah’s work is for both privately funded and legally aided clients.
Sarah is also a trained collaborative lawyer and family mediator. She is a member of the UK College of Mediators, and the North London Collaborative Law Pod. She undertakes mediations in all areas of family disputes for Hopkin Murray Beskine’s Mediation service.
Sarah conceived an innovative on-line referral system called “Nellbooker” to assist multi-agency referrals, working with former colleague Ben Chataway and Lesley Curtis to develop the system. Hopkin Murray Beskine was shortlisted for the Law Society Excellence Award (Social Responsibility) 2008 for this work. Sarah was nominated as Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year 2007.
Sarah is recommended in the Legal 500 Guide 2016 which describes her as “practical, deeply committed and very skilled”. The Legal 500 Guide 2015 commended her as “an excellent tactician”
