Recognised for excellence in developing legal services

Our firm has been recognised nationally for our innovation and commitment to developing legal services. In 2008 we were shortlisted for the Law Society Excellence Awards alongside international magic circle firms for our online client referral system Nellbooker. The Awards reward the most outstanding practitioners in the legal profession. Nellbooker helps link clients to a range of external legal services, depending on their needs.

Appointments and nominations

Our partners are leaders in their field. Sarah Beskine was nominated for Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year in 2007, and is a Resolution-accredited specialist family lawyer in the fields of child abduction and domestic violence. Sarah is also a family mediator recognised by the College of Mediators. Barbara Hopkin is press secretary for the Association of Lawyers for Children and has given numerous interviews on children law on television, radio and in print. Barbara is an Assessor for the Children Panel. Lesley Curtis is a Peer Reviewer for housing law for the Legal Services Commission. Consultant Ben Chataway sits as a Tribunal Judge for the First-tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber).

Providing valuable services to the local and wider community

We firmly believe in fostering close links with our local community. Our housing and family lawyers are on the Duty Solicitor scheme at Clerkenwell & Shoreditch County Court, Bow County Court, Inner London Family Proceedings Court and Barnet Family Proceedings Court and County Court. We provide monthly housing advice sessions at Haringey Citizens Advice Bureau and Hackney Law Centre. We provide a monthly drop-in advice session at the London Borough of Haringey’s domestic violence project Hearthstones. We have also assisted with the Legal Services Commission’s Aspire programme for future lawyers at a local community school.

Many of our members are keen sportspeople and in the past few years have taken part in the Berlin and London Marathons, the Great South Run and a 220km bike ride in Belgium, raising thousands of pounds for their chosen charities including Osteosarcoma Research, Children in Care and Barnados.

In July 2010, Barbara Hopkin completed a gruelling 220km bicycle ride across Hadrian's Wall in aid of a charity for children in care. The story is to feature in the local press.
