Barbara Hopkin, Valerie Murray and Sarah Beskine established Hopkin Murray Beskine in 1993. We have continued to grow since, and welcomed Lesley Curtis as a partner in 2006 and Rebekah Carrier as a director in 2014 and Ann Bevington as a director in 2018.

We have a strong team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, paralegals and support staff. We have been awarded Lexcel accreditation, recognising our high management standards.

Our housing and public law team is recommended in the Legal 500 Guide and our housing team is recommended in the Chambers UK Guide. Our solicitors are also recommended in the Good Lawyer Guide. Our family team were recommended in the 2016 Legal 500 Guide which stated that Hopkin Murray Beskine ‘defines what a good firm should be’, with Sarah Beskine and Barbara Hopkin described as ‘practical, deeply committed and very skilled’.

Sarah Beskine is recognised as a specialist in the field of family law and is consulted by clients seeking divorce, separation and with conflicts regarding children’s disputes, both domestic and international. Sarah is one of the select few lawyers who are referred work by the Lord Chancellor’s International Child Abduction and Contact Unit (ICACU). Sarah is also qualified as a mediator and collaborative lawyer, and can where suitable, work directly with children in mediation.

Barbara Hopkin is renowned within the profession for her commitment and experience in all aspects of Children and Family work. Barbara specialises in all levels of court representation including the High Court.  Barbara represents the Association of Lawyers for Children as their press officer and sits as an assessor for the Law Society Children Panel in the selection of specialist lawyers.

Lesley Curtis was appointed by the Legal Aid Agency to assess the quality of other housing lawyers’ work because of her exceptional expertise in the field of housing and property litigation. Having a reputation for conducting all levels of property litigation with tenacity, flair and legal prowess, Lesley receives and welcome referrals from lay clients, as well as experts and professionals.

Rebekah Carrier is widely known in her specialist field of housing and public law. Rebekah has a particular interest in the allocation of social housing and has acted in cases involving the allocation schemes of local authorities across London. She currently acts in a number of significant cases relating to recent welfare benefits reforms.

Ann Bevington also specialises in housing and public law. She is highly regarded for her work defending possession proceedings, acting in unlawful eviction cases and disrepair claims. She also has extensive expertise in acting in homelessness cases.
